Mission Statement
The purpose of ANIA is to advance nursing informatics through education, research, and practice in all roles and settings.
Education
Goal: ANIA will provide quality informatics educational opportunities
Objectives:
- Deliver relevant and meaningful education using multiple venues and delivery methods
- Provide value to our members with Continuing Nursing Education opportunities
- Collaborate with professional organizations (ANA, AONE, AMIA, HIMSS, State Nursing Organizations, etc.) to provide informatics education
Strategies:
- Utilize member feedback to develop and deliver educational offerings
- Utilize the most current and appropriate technologies to meet learner needs
- Provide educational opportunities through the annual ANIA conference
- Conduct webinar educational sessions that are archived for later review by members
- Provide contact hours for the annual conference, webinar sessions and select articles published in the ANIA publication, Journal of Informatics Nursing
- Collaborate with others to offer nursing informatics education
- Expland nursing informatics educational materials
- Support ANIA Chapter educational activities
Tactics:
- Identify webinar topics, speakers and maintain webinar calendar quarterly
- Develop conference themes and other educational activities based on membership survey, feedback and emerging trends annually
- Sustain an annual scholarship program for nurses pursuing advanced education in the field of informatics
- Collaborate with management company to provide continuing education for the annual conference, webinars and in the ANIA publication, Journal of Informatics Nursing
- Conduct at least six Webinars annually
- Provide ongoing guidance to the ANIA Chapters for the delivery of relevant and meaningful education
Practice
Goal: ANIA will advance informatics through professional activities
Objectives:
- Monitor health IT initiatives to promptly identify and address key issues influencing nursing informatics
- Collaborate in discussions and policy-making that influence the nursing and informatics communities
- Provide leadership and development opportunities to prepare informatics nurses to be leaders in the association and the community
Strategies:
- Provide a voice for nursing informatics on relevant issues
- Facilitate methodologies for members to provide feedback on regulatory policy issues
Tactics:
- Develop a task force of volunteers to interpret and respond to informatics related issues as needed
- Maintain and develop mentoring tools and resources
Research
Goal: ANIA will promote and share informatics knowledge
Objectives:
- Disseminate nursing informatics knowledge
- Promote evidence-based practice for nursing informatics
Strategies:
- Encourage sharing of informatics knowledge
- Mentor members in the sharing of informatics knowledge
Tactics:
- Provide research articles (original or reviews) via the ANIA publication, Journal of Informatics Nursing
- Offer education on research techniques and methodologies
